CAHILL ON ROAD BACK
Australia midfielder Tim Cahill on Monday came through his first training session since injuring cruciate ligaments in his right knee just seven weeks ago.
The injury - sustained playing for his club side Everton in the Premiership - had threatened to deny Cahill the chance of playing in Germany, but the ex-Millwall man is now hopeful of playing a part in the Socceroos' second World Cup finals.
"I'm not going to count my chickens, and it is still a race against time to get fully fit, but it is good to be back,'' said Cahill, who is likely to sit out Australia's June 12 opener against Japan.
"It has been five and a half weeks post-injury, so I'm feeling good. There's still a chance that it might recur - so I have to take it easy and see how it goes. I need a week to really get a feel for how it is going."
